Aruba
Pure, white sand, tranquil, aqua ocean waters, and a constant breeze to keep you comfortable in the consistently warm 85 degree temperatures. In our 10 days there, we explored the other high-end hotels and none of them compared to the Hyatt Regency we were in. We had several very enjoyable meals at some of the island's best restaurants. We also took a 3-hour ATV tour to one of Aruba's proudest possessions, the natural Rock Pools on the north coast.
Another activity worth noting was a sailing ship we cruised on for a few hours one morning for a snorkeling tour. The snorkeling wasn't "all that", as Jeannie and I are now spoiled, having snorkeled in some of the world's hottest snorkeling spots in Hawaii. We did, however, see a sunken trading ship from the WWII era. That was pretty neat. And the highlight of the day was undoubtedly witnessing Jeannie set the Mi Dushi (our ship) record for most attempts on the Rope Swing. You can see a stillshot of this in the pictures page linked below.
By far, the majority of our vacation was spent relaxing on the beautiful beach outside our resort. Well, in all fairness, Jimmy relaxed. Jeannie would get herself riled up every two hours or so and cried out with uncanny consistency each day,... "I'm hungry. I'm bored. You wanna get ice cream?"
In short, Aruba claims among the best beaches and finest weather we've experienced in the Caribbean. The Hyatt Regency resort was fantastic. But if you're looking for much of anything else, ... night life, exquisite eateries, siteseeing, ... you will likely be dissapointed in the island. If, however, you want to get away from the american work grind and just get lazy on some of the calmest, warmest, most beautiful beaches this side of the globe, then we highly recommend it!
