MONTAUK
Montauk was our second road trip,
but it was the first we took alone together. Though a long drive, it was
rather scenic. We made several stops on our way out and back which made
the ride all the more enjoyable. On the way out, we stopped at some of
Long Island's more reknowned wineries and sampled their wares. We also
attended a friend's picnic/birthday celebration for their daughter on the north
fork. Around mid-afternoon we finally scaled the Lighthouse and took some scenic pictures. Then onto the beach so that we
could be sure to say we actually were in the ocean on the east end of Long Island. And of course, we took some more pictures.
On our return trip, we did some walking and shopping in the towns of Amagansett and the Hamptons.
We sampled $6.00 ice cream cones and ventured into a small, private art gallery
where we spied a glimpse of Howard Stern's very own
Fred Norris. It took us the better part of a day to complete our trip. We ended our travels in Islip where
we visited Jeannie's niece and nephews. All in all, it was a most enjoyable day.
